MBB: Duske’s 27 lead Vikings past Morris

Senior Aaron Duske scored 27 points in from to home crowd Saturday as he led the Valley City State men’s basketball team to a 64-55 victory over Minnesota-Morris.Playing their first home game since Nov. 19, the Viking men were in control from the start against Morris, taking a 30-25 lead into halftime and never trailing in the second half. Duske knocked down 10 of 13 shots, including a 4-for-6 performance from 3-point range. The senior from Buffalo, Minn., added four rebounds and two blocks. AJ McDonald scored 10 points and dished out five assists, and Mac Kroeplin aded nine points and five rebounds. Russell Robinson led the fight underneath with 10 rebounds, including four offensive boards. Paxton Lloyd paced the VCSU bench with six points and two steals. VCSU shot 43 percent from the field, and made 6 of 18 3-point attempts. The Vikings improve to 4-9 on the season and defeated Morris for the second time in two weeks. VCSU beat the Cougars 68-67 back on Dec. 20 in Morris. Up next: VCSU’s scheduled Jan. 6 game vs. Crossroads College has been postponed until Feb. 8. The Vikings will now hit the road for games in Denver, Colo., on Jan. 10 and 11 against Northern New Mexico and Johnson & Wales.
